No Word Wisdom this week! Focus on Research & Practice OAA prep!
In class procedures and activities:
complete thesis warm-up on SMART Board--Mark "F" if the statement is a Fact, "T" if the statement is a Thesis
Prezi presentation on 5-paragraph essay.
Take notes on intro (including hook, link, thesis & bridge), body paragraph and conclusion
Study "Doomed Wuv's Embwace" sample paper after viewing 6 minute youtube video ("What's Opera Doc?")
Identify, analyze and mark use of hook, thesis, topic sentences, transition words or phrases, direct quotes and citations
HW: If I STILL don't have a completed note/bib cards, outline, intro paragraph, etc--CATCH UP!!!!!!!!!!
Students who didn't finish the practice OAA last week in class need to do so tonight for HW

- Apply practice to personal paper---Classroom work time to begin handwriting rough draft of remaining four paragraphs (without parenthetical citations)
- Distribute new handouts for folder:
- "Quote Sandwich" and Instructions on how to properly include & punctuation quotations <---Use these notes to help complete "Quotation Practice" HW
- "First page" MLA format instructions and example page <--Follow these instructions when typing rough draft.
HW:- Finish handwritten (or typed) rough draft of paper--all 5 paragraphs--before tomorrow's class.

- understand the purpose & proper use of parenthetical citations
- apply knowledge of parenthetical citations to personal paper.
In class procedures and activities:- Warm-Up: using the SMART Board, discuss correct answers to last night's HW ("Quotation Practice" handouts)
- Distribute Parenthetical Citation handouts for folder
- Discuss, analyze, study examples
- Apply with practice on SMART Board
- Complete Exit Slip to demonstrate ability to correctly cite direct quotes using parenthetical citations.
HW:- Update your rough draft by including a minimum of 3 parenthetical citations
Thursday, 2/28/13Objectives:
- apply knowledge of parenthetical citations to personal paper.
- create a properly-formatted, typed rough with parenthetical citations.
In class procedures and activities:- Warm-up: Correct yesterday's Exit Slip practice sentences on SMART Board with student volunteers.
- Computer lab: Begin/continue typing up rough draft with parenthetical citations--finish for homework, if needed.
